8/10/2023 0 Comments Watch fullmetal alchemist 2003![]() When I finished '03 I was genuinely excited to revisit BH. And I don't think it's a burnout thing, either. I just started the Briggs stuff and I'm still having trouble watching more than two to three episodes at a time. On the contrary, I'm currently rewatching BH and while it's a good show, I'm not exactly plowing through six episodes in a night like I did on my '03 rewatch. I rewatched it and the film last month and my feelings haven't changed. But very few shows have spoken to me or stayed with me like FMA 2003 has. To be clear, if you like BH more that is absolutely okay. ![]() Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 is one of the greatest television shows I've ever seen. With that said, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is an anime I like. Also be sure to watch the film, Conqueror of Shamballa, after the show. If you can take '03 as its own thing, I'm sure you'll appreciate it even if you still like BH more in the end. I think you should temper your expectations accordingly and try to take in the show on its own terms rather than dismissing it for not being the manga/BH. It isn't downright nihilistic like End of Evangelion or Devilman Crybaby, but it does end on a more bittersweet note. Whereas BH is very shonen in the fact that it has dark spots but everything works out in the end, '03 is more realistic in that not everything works out the way you want it to. A fair warning, though: it's a darker, more challenging version of the story that doesn't wrap up nearly as nearly as Brotherhood.
